When to expect hearing back?
agregory replied to madisonstarr's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Also, if I recall correctly, once CSDCAS has sent off your completed applications to designated schools, you're done with them, and just await correspondence directly from the school. I'd check out the individual school websites to ensure there isnt a separate profile you need to create directly with them in order to recieve notifications (Rush had something like this..). -
When to expect hearing back?

I applied to several CSDCAS schools and also sent in multiple direct applications. Earliest I heard was late February (Iowa), got a call from MGH first week of March, and every other school sent out notifications between the 2nd and 3rd week of March. -

Hey, sorry just realized my last response didnt post correctly. No problem with the stats. They were as follows: GPA: Unrelated BA in 2005 - 3.55 Post-bac SPHR coursework in 2011 - 4.0 GRE: Verbal - 162 Quant - 153 MISC: 1 year of volunteer experience conducting newborn hearing screenings at local hospital. 5 years of work experience in an unrelated field in a managerial capacity. Diverse letters of rec (two professors, boss, and volunteer manager, who was an audiologist). Hope this is useful. -

Hey everyone. Seems like this thread is a lot less busy than it was at this time last year, which hopefully means there isnt too much stress building up around the application process....yet! Anyway, just want to put it out there, I'm a first year at Vanderbilt, and would be happy to answer questions about the program if anyone is considering applying here and feels like they need some additional input. Would definitely recommend coming out for a visit, if its feasible for you. Seeing the facilities here first-hand is really what sold me last year, and it also helped to get some feedback from current/former students. Also, just a word of advice: Really look into the resources available at different programs, especially If you're interested in the medical side of the field (like I am), and thinking about applying to schools like UC Boulder or UT Austin (like I did). I applied to both based on their solid reputations and ideal locations, but after speaking with students and delving deeper into their curriculums/facilities, realized that they really place a much heavier emphasis on working with pediatric/school based populations, which is great, just not for those who are looking to get as much medical exposure as possible during their grad experience. Good luck to everyone! -

Has anyone gotten any type of funding info from Northwestern, or head anything at all from them aside from receiving a hard-copy version of the online notification? -

Unfortunately I dont think I'll be able to make it due to the timing. I'd be really eager to hear your thoughts though if you wouldnt mind touching base afterwards. I think the high tuition at MGH combined with the crazy cost of living in Boston might have me leaning more towards other options at this point anyways. Im definitely planning on visiting Vanderbilt before the 15th though. Have you gotten in touch with anyone over there about a tour yet? I emailed Penny Welch, who sent me an availability form to be forwarded back to Lyn Smith. Hopefully our paths will cross in Nashville! -

Id probably say 'business casual.' wouldnt necessarily go in a sweatshirt and jeans, but I mean, it's not a formal interview or anything. Im doing a couple of visits as well, and will probably dress like I would in the clinic with clients... -

Hey is anyone on here the person(s) who wrote on the admissions page about hearing negative things about Vanderbilt's program? I'd really like to get a PM from anyone who is willing to share info about their personal experiences visiting the school and/or speaking with current/former students. Thank you! -

Still waiting on Vandy over here on the west coast as well. If they're going to make it a point to email applicants to say decisions will be made by today and then not come through, I imagine poor lyn smith is going to regret including her contact number in that message... -

Just a heads up about Portland State, two of the youngest, brightest and definitely favorite professors there just accepted positions at Pacifics new program. If you're considering either of these two schools and have an interest in neurogenic com disorders/TBI or craniofacial issues (the areas these professors specialize in), then I'd suggest taking a long look at Pacific, since PSU will be hard pressed to find suitable substitutes for these folks. -

Thanks for the info on UT, Torokiseru and flotsam. That was sort of the impression I was getting, if for no other reason than I couldnt find a lot of information online about medical training. It really helps to hear about some personal experiences. Also, UW just sent me an email re: funding. They said they give out 7 or 8 'recruitment scholarships' that range from $1000 - $10,000. They said that they will contact selected students before the April 15th matriculation deadline. Anyway I would suggest anyone who was accepted and interested in all the details to respond to them acceptance email sent out yesterday, as there was a long MS Word document they sent back with all of the various funding options. -

Wow just got into Rush as well. Have some really serious thinking to do over the next couple of weeks. Really wish more programs would inform on funding opportunities up-front. I think Im going to get in contact with UW and Rush tomorrow or next week and see what they say about the timeline for offering any type of funding/assistantships, although Im pretty sure opportunities are limited at both schools. UT Austin just emailed to say they wont make any decisions on assistantships or scholarships until after you submit your intent to enroll in the fall. Seems like lots of ya'll are getting good news. Makes me excited to start working with such driven people! -

Hey did anyone on here already mention how the open house at Northwestern went last Friday? I couldnt spring for the $400 flight from Portland, but was really hoping to get some feedback from those who went. -

Without quite seeing the big picture yet, yeah, I'd say it's definitely where Im leaning. I did my initial undergrad there, love Seattle, and am really excited about the Medical track. I honestly applied to schools without much initial consideration of cost, and realized after the fact that they're all pretty spendy, so we'll see how all the funding shakes out but I've sort of resigned myself to hopping on the debt train. Figuring it will be money well spent if it means great training in an awesome city with lots of job opportunities. You've got quite a few options to consider yourself! Any major thoughts on your end?? I think I'm just going to bask in the acceptances through the weekend and then really get down to the serious decision business. -

Yes! congrats future potential classmate! Im in the same boat as you - notification on the grad app page but no email from the department or changes to supplemental app. Hopefully funding notifications will be coming shortly, although UW is one program where I really feel like the price tag is totally worth it. -

Accepted to the medical SLP track at UW! Wow. I'm just floored. This was probably my number one choice, but I havent even let myself think about it knowing how competitive it is. Good luck to everyone else. So glad the waiting is coming to an end. -

Just got accepted to UT Austin!! Oh man being an out-of-state applicant I was not expecting that one. Can't wait to do some more in-depth research into the program. If anyone here as any insight I would love to hear it!
