  1. may be just wishful thinking on my part, but there may be ways to renegotiate 2nd year packages once relationships have been established. also, i see opportunities for scholarships with deadlines in the fall, which i am hoping can supplement the 2nd year. good luck to you.
  2. I'm struggling with the same decision, but think it is worth it in the end. The bay area network is small but can be slow to penetrate on one's own. CCA has a huge faculty and initiates a lot of contact amongst student/faculty on a weekly basis, which can't be bad. I also do think galleries pay attention to the MFA shows - it's often how people get contact beyond juried shows. In the end, it's how you take advantage of the situation and the opportunities presented. Having left an MFA program a decade ago, I've had enough time to see that MFAs do provide a benefit, albeit an expensive one. I'm also operating under the belief that with diligence on my part there are resources out there to get the 2nd year more fully funded (both from CCA and outside sources).
  3. accepted to cca painting today!
  4. yes. chomping at the bit here!
  5. woodworked, did you interview for painting at cca?
  6. good to know! thanks for checking up with them. i had given up on ucb.
  7. someone posted a few days ago they'd been interviewed and accepted last week. not sure if it's legit though.
  8. Thanks ya'll....super helpful! Best....
  9. Let me rephrase the question: thoughts from experienced folks here on whether it's ok to include less than 20 images in favor of detail shots for the sake of cohesion?
  10. My question is: how bad does it look to have, say, 10 images with the remaining 10 detail slides of those paintings? I want to show new and cohesive work and because my work is so detailed, I feel close-ups would be warranted. Just don't know how that looks to an admissions committee.
  11. stanford is fully funded at stanford. rare to find a fully funded art program. it's still in its infancy and its general rep is probably a big draw. palo alto is tech central - i just would feel so far removed from all the vibrancy of sf/oakland/berkeley down there.
