I applied to Biological Oceanography and got invited to an Open House in early March. I don't know if they've sent out invitations for their other departments yet, and I've heard that they invite fewer people than they let in- so if you don't get invited, that doesn't automatically mean you're rejected (is my understanding, at least). I doubt they'll be sending out acceptances for any departments until after the open house.
Good Luck!!!
Thanks! It's the first response of any kind I've gotten so I was pretty excited. I got an email from a professor who I'd been corresponding with before applying; he included the official invitation in his email. It's two days at the end of January, and it's NOT an interview- they made a point to say admissions decisions won't be affected if you can't make it.
FYI to anyone else wondering about Stanford Biosciences, I broke down and called them and they said one big batch of interview invitations has been sent out, but there are more to go and they won't get all of them out until the second week of February!
Hi fellow EEBers!
I am also applying to some of the same programs as you guys (Stanford, Davis, Berkeley (IB), UCSD (Scripps), WHOI/MIT, UVa, Harvard). I haven't heard from Stanford yet, so of course I'm totally panicked! I only have one application left, I can't wait till that's over.
Do it! Everyone appreciates being recognized for a job well done, and if a professor did a very good job teaching a class, they probably put a lot of work into it.
