Hi, I am new to the forum and I have begun thinking about grad school, as I am now halfway through my junior year. I am a double major, with BS Econ and BS Business Administration (concentration in finance), along with a Political Science minor, but I have been thinking about going in a completely different direction once I graduate. I never had saw myself making a career in finance or economics, as it has never been particularly fulfilling (though I have succeeded in my internships and coops). I have a 4.0 cumulative GPA. For the first 20 years of my life I never had a strong idea of what I wanted to do for my career. I may find something interesting, but then lose interest a week later. However, I think I have finally found my calling: commercial space exploration. I have always had a passion for human space exploration, but I now want to make a career out of that passion. I really admire SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk, and I have been obsessing about working there. Of course, I don't have an engineering background. I'd like to work in corp/business development or strategy at a company like SpaceX. The position I am envisioning would require a strong technical knowledge, but would not include actually designing and testing spacecraft and technologies. This brings me to my path on how to get to this point. I have applied to their summer internships, but I am afraid I'd be placed in the supply management or finance/accounting department, which I don't have long-term interest in. I feel like my best chance to have a significant role in a commercial space company is to gain an educational background in aerospace engineering or something of that nature. I have been researching different grad programs and have found two different options so far: 1) MIT TPP program - this is the technology and policy program which looks very interesting. This program wouldn't give me the technical engineering expertise, but I think it would be very beneficial. 2) BU LEAP program - there is already a discussion on this forum about this program, and this also looks great, except they interestingly don't have a MS in Aerospace Engineering, despite having an undergrad degree in it. So, the core of my dilemma is this: I will be graduating in June 2013 with a BSBA and BS Econ, without a long-term passion for these fields. I want to follow my passion of commercial space exploration, but need advice on how to approach it with the grad school route.
