  1. @Dentist24...congrats for getting the visa...I have just applied some 2 weeks back and waiting for the results now....Sending fees soo early??? isnt it too early for that?

Yeah, I called admission office and they said I can deposit fee till 28th Sept. But getting air ticket is a problem here, our currency has depreciated against US dollars, cheap tickets have been sold and premium tickets are available on selected airlines. This is life one can't get every thing easily. I got Visa in 3 days but getting ticket is a uphill task. Hope for best.

  2. Hi everyone,

I would really want to know if anyone has heard back from Memorial University. My status changed to 'decision made' on the 8th of May, but I havent gotten my letter yet and I have no idea what the decision is and the wait is getting really frustrating,

Hi, same with me, i haven't received any mail or post mail. Also same happened with Manitoba university, i mailed them and inquired about my application status as it showed decision made and letter has been sent.

They immediately replied back by sending me a copy of letter which was sent on 28th March by post mail, but it didn't reach me. To my surprise they offered me $4000 scholarship. So I sent a mail to Memorial university, hope to hear something from them.

  3. Got my admission offer from SFU yesterday. The email read " Dear ... I am pleased to inform you that the Senate Graduate Committee has approved your admission to the health sciences MPH in Simon Fraser University for the 2012 Fall Term ... "

Congratulation Ginnie, You got what you wished. Take care.
  4. @ Dentist24 and the whole U of Saskatchewan crew, I got an email from the CGSR today and one of the conditions for registration is to send my Official Transcripts to them. My question now is was everybody else given this same condition? Pls let me know.Thank You.

    Hi Ginnie,

I don`t think I was given the same condition as you. It doesn`t say anywhere on my official acceptance letter that I need to submit my transcript. Mine says `you have been accepted fully qualified for a Master of Public Health degree`, so I`m assuming that I don`t have to? I also successfully registered for PAWS today.

    Cheers

In my case there is a conditional too, it says I have to submit my original BDS degree, which I completed on 31th March and convocation would be held next year as per my university sources. I mailed CGSR as per their instruction I post mailed them certified copy of my provisional degree. I am anxious to hear positive reply from them. Unconditional letter of offer is basic requirement of Canadian Embassy for issuing a student visa

  5. Hi People, I finally got my Official Admission email (got the recommendation email since Feb 24) from U of Saskatchewan this evening. The email said that the Formal Letter will be mailed and I should contact CGSR if I don't receive it after 3weeks.

Great, Finally it arrived, Good Luck, Did you get reply from SFU?, I guess you would get between June 15-18.
  6. Hi all,

I just received my offer from U of Sask today!! Questions for the U of Sask crew @ Dentist24, Anant, Ginnie, I'm just wondering what are you guys doing about housing situation? Will you guys be living in U of Sask residents or off campus housing? Let me know your thoughts. Good luck to those who are still waiting!

Congratulations, I haven't decided yet, Let's discus all pros and cons.
  7. Just got off the waitlist for SFU. And was just notified today that I am on the waitlist for Memorial University. So 1 spot opens up for SFU and if Memorial comes in that will open up to. Best of luck everyone.

Hi, Did you get post mail or email from memorial university? Thanks.
  8. Hii Everyone,

It has been great and fun sharing and reading from all of you. I received my official acceptance into SFU for my MPH in Environmental and Occupational Health yesterday. I am wishing all the best for those still waiting for their offers or to make their final decision.

For those already accepted to SFU i believe we shall have a great academic year for i am looking forward for September.

@Linten, are you finally decided on pursuing SFU?

For all those accepted into USASK, @Dentist24, Anant, Ginnie, and everyone else; unfortunately i have to decline my U of S offer. The SFU official offer is really appealing. I wish we could all stay in touch even after joining our prospecting schools. Anyone wishing to stay in touch you are welcome to message my inbox. Till then lets all strive for the best in our endevours while always staying focus as we impact communites plus the rest of the world in our various fields of Public Health. Once again, THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE AS IT HAS BEEN FUN AND EXCITING!

Congratulations Bloom-2012, gradually guys would take admissions in school of their choice and would part away, but I wish to remain friend with all of you, where ever you study. All the best and have great time.

  9. Hey all, I've been following this thread for a while now but have never posted. Congrats to MPH2012! I too received my official (email) acceptance from the CGSR at USASK yesterday. To all those waiting don't worry yourselves, to my understanding, the CGSR must approve admissions for all departments so they are generally slow. I had been waiting a bit over 3 weeks for my letter.

Also to update you all, I applied to Uvic, Usask, UAlberta, Memorial, Queens and UToronto. I got accepted by UVic (but I declined) and Usask thus far. I was rejected by UAlberta, which was my first choice :-( Sucks but c'est la vie. I'm waiting on the remaining schools

Out of curiosity for all those accepted to USask did you guys apply to the distance or in class programs (MPH2012, Ginnie, etc)?

Best of luck to everyone in the forum!

Hi Mantwi, Congratulations and welcome to Saskatchewan MPH club. keep updating us. Thanks.

  10. Hii Dentist24,

I had done some research before regarding UBC, SFU, and USAK. Through some alumni friends and one professor, here is my findings. Both schools are a great research center, though U of S has more famous reasearch centers like VIDO, InterVac, and CLS. UBC has a high reputation with different great programs, but their MPH is too general. U of S has great programs too and their MPH is very elaborated. Both schools has great funding, however international students benefits from more funding from U of S. In addition U of S is the only institution in Canada with partnership with CDC in Atlanta USA. Also U of S is soon being accepted into the Association for Schools of Public Health of the European Schools (ASPHER). Hopes this helps!

Thanks Bloom 2012, I appreciate you spared some moments to answer me.

Do you or anyone else have any information about UNBC university and thesis based program of MSc in community health.

  11. @Bloom 2012 and @Dentist24. Thanks for the help guys. Seems it is going to be fun being in the same class. I am prepared with the documents. Our deadline is 6th June. I am just waiting for the final letter. Did they put any conditions on the letter or? Coz the mail I got said that it might have some conditions before I start the program. So I am wondering about it. Am just waiting for the letter now.

Hello friends, Anant 6th June is Embassy deadline, In Indian they take 3-4 weeks to process student Visa, I think in your country they might take more time, so you should start immediately after getting hard copy of letter.

Regarding conditions I have no Idea, If possible copy past those lines.

I hope Ginnie would have got her offer letter by now.

Bloom 2012 Have you decided for Saskatchewan or looking for other option.

Are you guys planning to stay in Hostel or Off campus.

  12. @Dentist24

Hey I do not know what to do now. I have accepted the offer and will be joining. My status changed to applicant accept online. Now??

Congrats Anant, you are going to get a email ( with links for fee and other details ) and post mail from CGSR containing letter of offer of admission. Then you would get another mail to get yourself registered with PAWS. One can now apply for Visa with that Hard Copy of letter of offer of admission. Wait for couple of days. Good Luck.

  13. @Ginnie.. I had also contacted the grad secretary. She said the same thing to me. Than I emailed the college of graduate studies and research. They said they were still reviewing the applications and approving them. I got the email last night. I hope you shall get one soon as well. The reviewing process is still going on. Do not worry. I know its hard. But trust me GOD will make for you as he has done for me.

@Dentist24. I got an email only without any letters or something. It stated that the letter is on its way. So am waiting for the letter. They have asked me to accept or reject the application without any deadline. Have you accepted the offer or not yet. I haven't even got any link about my fees or something.

Good news Anant, I have already accepted the offer. Did you apply to other universities?
  14. Congrats Anant,am so happy for you, am yet to receive an acceptance mail from University of Saskatchewan though. Am still praying to be accepted. I believe and trust God and I know he'll do it for me as he did 4 you.

@Anant, Dentist24 and others accepted at U of S, were U given a date to decline /Accept ? Please share.

Hi Ginnie, One of my friend got acceptance letter today, so you too would get sooner or later, I haven't given a date to decline or accept.

But got another mail to get registered with PAWS.

Did SFU give you any tentative date about final recommendation for admission as you are in WAIT LIST.

  15. Well I got rejected from SFU - Global Health. Im quite bummed out about it, and to be honest, a little but suprised. I had emailed a long way back to make sure I shouldn't have also applied to the population health stream (I have no international experience, I just want to start doing Global Health), and was told applications are not differentiated based on preferred stream. I REALLY hope that was the case, and I didn't shoot myself in the foot by applying to the wrong section.

Oh well! One acceptance, one rejection, two more to go!

Hi Kdok, congratulation for acceptance from U O Manitoba, Did you get rejection mail or you presumed as rejection when you didn't get acceptance mail from SFU ?
  16. Thanks Dentist. I just got an email now from sfu that I've be waitlisted, but that they'll get back to me soon on my admission status. I pray I eventually get off the waitlist and into the program.

Great, Congratulations, May God fulfill your wish.

    What is your background Ginnie?
