So, I've been kind of listening in on your conversations the last month or so...figured I should contribute a little myself. First off, I can tell you from my experience that you can come back from a poor undergraduate gpa (2.6). After heavy semester loads at a regional university (MA), I have gotten offers at two good universities (UCSB and Virginia). Now I have to decide between no funding (UVA) and a decent shot at funding (No. 3 on wait list at UCSB). I would love to get any information from those of you who might have some insight on UCSB funding (whether you have an offer, might decline, or are on the wait list yourself). Also, just to confirm what has been said repeatedly here, I was told by future advisors that my fit with their interests was ultimately what got me in.
