So I broke down yesterday afternoon and sent a delicate email to my POI at UNC. Still no word. This seemed like another bad omen that pushed me further towards completely crossing it off my list. Right when I'm mentally shedding that weight, one of my professors calls me and tells me that she has a contact there who told her that he thinks I'm on the waitlist (he was out of office and going by memory). So much confusion. I wish they would notify.

Congrats, jsolo! Great way to start the weekend.

I've got my fingers crossed for you, HnP! And all other UW-Mers waiting on funding. If it doesn't work out for me, I'm glad to know that their funds went to such good people.
-
Congrats, SToF!

From what I understand, it's an all or nothing situation, at least for me. It seems that if this fellowship doesn't come through, then they won't be able to offer me anything. I thought that was sort of strange, but perhaps it depends on where your sources of funding are coming from (i.e. grad school or department) as to whether or not it is tiered. I'm sending good thoughts your way, HnP!

For all other potential UW-M students, I heard back from my POI on the funding situation today and announcements should be arriving very soon. Unfortunately, I'm an alternate for what my POI called a "prestigious Chancellor's fellowship." That's not bad news necessarily, but still a bit of a disappointment since I was really hoping UW would come through. I suppose I'll just have to focus my energy on my well-funded offer from UT-Austin and the upcoming visit this weekend. Best of luck to all other potential recipients!

Simple Twist of Fate, I totally agree. It's so much easier to accept when you have weeks to come to terms with it.

Penn just dashed my last far-fetched dreams of an Ivy. Oh well, there are worse things. I saw it coming. Congrats to those who were admitted!
-
To the person who just posted the update about UNC decisions, many thanks! It's nice to know when I can stop fretting and move on.
-
Congrats, calamari! And thanks for the info.
-
I'm wondering the same... any takers?
-
Oh my, I just saw the post on the results page that said that official acceptances to UNC would be sent out later today. Officially freaking out.

I'm so happy for everyone who received good news yesterday and today. And send condolences to those who didn't find the right fit. It's been a pleasure to watch everyone go through this thrilling and, at times, incredibly trying process. I'll join in and give Safferz a standing ovation. On a side note, I'm on edge about UNC. I keep thinking that they will pop up any day now.

Safferz is killing it! Congrats, congrats, congrats!

Congrats to the UMN and UChicago acceptances!! It's always great to see good news.
-
Thanks, HnP! That's a really convenient reference.
-
Yes, it says I'm classified as "out of state" and that I've been officially admitted, but that's about it. Thanks so much for the info, TMP! That's really good to know. And congrats again! Please celebrate accordingly.
-
Me neither. I frantically checked after I saw TMP's post.
-
Incredible package, TMP! Congrats!! That has to feel great. How did you find out, if you don't mind me asking?
-
Safferz, so many congratulations! That's amazing news. How did you find out?!

Received official acceptance letter from UW-M today in the mail. Basically, I'm admitted, but funding is still being decided. They should be notifying on that front by mid-march (seems so far off). Prospective student weekend on March 24-26.
-
My Wisconsin application also says that I have been "recommended for admission!" Congrats to all other applicants that have the same message. Looking forward to hearing more sometime soon!
-
Congrats goldie! Glad to hear great news made its way to you!

Fortunately, I'm able to claim one of the UT acceptances for American history. I received an email early this morning from the Grad Program Coordinator letting me know that I've been "approved for admission." Attached to the email was a personalized letter from my POI that outlined funding (again, incredibly lucky, but I'm fully funded) and invited me to visit in March. I hope that provides other users with some insight into the process. I know I've been stalking these boards and always appreciate finding out the details. To all the other loyal posters on this board, please keep your head up. It's only February 1. The waiting game is killer, I know, but I'm sure good news is on the way!

This is my first post and I'm not entirely sure how useful it will be, but I recently met with my POI at Penn who was in my area for a guest lecture. She let me know that final decisions would be made next week. So, heads up, Penn news could be coming soon!
