  1. Hi all. I need some help from you Philly folk.

I am planning to attend Penn in the fall as a graduate student. My husband will be working in central NJ (around Skillman/Bridgewater, which is about 25 miles from Trenton). I had a breakdown today in terms of where we will live. I would love to live, if not in Philadelphia, then right outside of it, but in a place that doesn't have him commuting 1.5 hours each morning. We are in our late 20s and I would like to be in an area that is not boring. Can you offer any advice? I really don't want to live around Trenton and commute each day from there. I fear for my mental state if I don't figure this out soon.

    Thank you!

  2. Sevilla,

There is a Facebook group for Teachers College, Columbia University Admitted Students and there I have been told by the office of admission that we will be notified about financial aid starting from next week. Best of luck to all of us!

Thanks for the heads up, yareniyaren! Have any Zankel Fellowship applicants heard back yet with a decision?

  3. I received my official acceptance letter today, and with it came notification of a scholarship award, for those who are wondering how that will arrive. I'm not sure if I will receive additional materials on loans, etc., but I was very pleased!

  4. Well, I called NYU Steinhardt today and manipulated them a bit. I said "Hi. When I called yesterday, they said a decision was made about my application [not quite true]. I have been having mail problems lately [not quite true] and was wondering if you could tell me the date that my decision was mailed." She informed me that mine was put in the pile to be mailed on Friday and thus was sent in Friday's or Monday's mail. I haven't received it yet, so I am guessing that it was sent out Monday, but at least that gives me a time frame...

I considered doing that tomorrow, so I'm glad to know it somewhat works! I am still waiting on a decision from Steinhardt for the M.A. program in International Education. I called Admissions on Friday asking when decisions would be sent, since my application was complete in early January, and the (quite rude) woman said "I've worked here for 13 years, so you better believe it's going to be 8 to 12 weeks at the minimum." Sigh.

  5. JoeEd - I hope you have a great time. I am bummed I can't make it. Have you received anything in the email thats official. I haven't and that seems odd...I am pretty sure I will enroll at Penn but they haven't sent me any info other than one email. Maybe I am just being neurotic.

I am also interested to see if anyone admitted to the Higher Ed. program has received anything from Penn other than the one email inviting us to the Admitted Students event. I haven't yet either, edgrad. I want something official!
