Hi everyone,
Congratulation on getting in and I look forward to meeting many of you at Preview! I'm finishing up my first year here and like many of you was deciding between programs at this time last year. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Are any out of staters going to preview weekend? Friday or Saturday? Both? I'd really like to attend, but flying into Detroit has presented to be more cumbersome than I expected.
I'm taking a red-eye in to Detroit. Will be landing around 6:30 am that Friday at DTW. I'm planning on renting a car and can give a ride if anyone's landing around the same time.

I've had okay experience with https://www.metroairporttaxi.org/ though they are $50 plus tip. Otherwise, I'd actually recommend hitting up Priceline for a rental car. I doubt it'd be much more expensive than $100 (round trip using Metro Airport Taxi) and you could use it to explore Ann Arbor.
How walkable is Ann Arbor vs do I need a rental car to get around?

I'm getting in to Detroit at 6:30 am on Friday. Still figuring out logistics of getting to UMich...

Also in! I attended UMich for undergrad, so I'm happy to answer any questions about Ann Arbor and such.
Hey TypeA,
What's the average rent / living costs in Ann Arbor? I didn't see any info on Ford's site. Maybe I'm overlooking it.

Thanks eigenvector!
Am I looking at this right? http://www.ro.umich....es.php#fullterm
So, tuition and fees are $10k+ /term for resident, 20k+/term for non-resident? Or does "Full Term" mean three terms? Three terms/academic year... So, $57k for one year of out-of-state tuition and fees? That's got to be wrong...
I believe Michigan is semester system so a year would be around $38k for out-of-state and $21k for Michigan residents. (Of course this is only the tuition aspect)

The Rackham admittance is more of a formality (Rackham is the overarching graduate studies department). Rackham isn't going to reject the students that the Ford School is accepting.
