Do you have the letter "T"? I think it's just like a check mark, no more.
I also had the T.
Probably a check mark...
OR
we can pretend it stands for TERRIFIC!

So... after five rejections and only the big H, S & Y left, I guess it's about time to call it a day, right?
What are people who aren't trying to get into Grad school doing with their time anyway?
-
I emailed UCLA and asked for advice on how to strengthen my application for the future. I got a very kind response within 48 hours that the Graduate Vice Chair, Felicity Nussbaum would be happy to do a complete "application review" with me after April 15th, and asked to please resend my email asking for one at that time.

Real post from the board, for a Rice English rejectee:
The email said I had a "very immature vocabulary" in my personal statement. I have no idea what that means but it's pretty gay. GAY AS BALLS.
Honestly? Made my day.

Thank you ALL for this thread!
The closest thing to humor I can muster up about now is this...

Got an email. Accepted. CANNOT BELIEVE IT. DREAM PROGRAM. Going to go run down my street to get some of this energy off.
Congratulations!!!!

I remember seeing on one of the other threads that Columbia will be notifying their decisions on or after Feb. 20th. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong..

Wow, congratulations you guys!
Wolferine, Overthemoon - what are your fields?

Heart spike...

Hi guys,
I applied to UCLA too, haven't heard anything. It my only remaining choice outside of the East coast..
Whats this about a Feb. 6th meeting?

There truly is something deeply masochistic about graduate applicants in the humanities.
Amen to that. Fulfilling in a way that nothing else quite is, too. Also , even if I don't get it anywhere (starting to look around for serious Plan Bs already) I know I would have always regretted it if I had never tried.
So here's for trying to make our far-fetched dreams a reality!

I have decided that knowledge is not power. I haven't heard anything, I don't know what it means, and I'm pretty sure this website is the devil. I had hope twenty minutes ago.
Keep your chin up. If you haven't heard anything than that proverbial fat lady has not yet sung. I too have not heard anything from any of the 11 programs I applied for, and have actually now limited myself to checking these boards only once every 24 hours to keep form falling into anxious misery. Something good will happen yet -- I know it!

There are three schools now that I can reasonably assume I've been rejected by (Duke, Stanford, Chicago). I'm okay with that. I just wish they'd let me know!
DITTO. Just put us out of our misery!
-
it's not fake! it's mine. I received an email that said "decision notification from UC-Berkeley" and it took me to the application website where it said I was admitted w/ a letter from the graduate division. I am obviously quite happy--but also weirded out that no one has heard yet, and I've heard nothing from the department. good luck to everyone else!
Congratulations!!

My dignity and intellectual freedom?

been a pretty bad week

I wish they would just put us out of our misery already and send the rejections.
I already know that Chicago, Duke and Stanford have probably already finished letting anyone relevant (ie not me) know, so why not just let me off the hook already?
*pouts*

Anybody apply to Brown's Modern Culture and Media program?
-
Haven't heard anything whatsoever...
-
LIAR.
genius!

Well, at least we're not alone. The irony of course being that if we *were* alone, we would have less competition and therefor not been in this dismal situaiton to begin with. Also, I think that gradcafe should have a limit where you can only visit the site once every 36 hours. I am relentlessly obsessive about checking the results!
-
Ugh, am I the only one who has not heard back anything from anyone and feels like a complete masochist to have even started this process?

Oy to the Vey, as they say...
