  1. Among many many many other types of topics as well. I know someone going to study Math, I know someone else going to study economics, and I am going to study History and Culture. So, I think you just have a well thought out project and a very strong contact wherever you plan on going.
  2. In Brazil the Researchers get a $1000 travel allowance which the ETA's do not receive..
  3. It's different for every country and different for ETAs and Researchers.
  4. this is a really ugly thing to say...
  5. I dont think Fulbright gives any money towards the medical exams...the letter from IIE specifically says "Please note that any costs you incur in completing the health certificate will not be reimbursed"
  6. I completely agree with nemolover. I know my opinion doesn't really matter because I found out about my award in late March, but in the emails we got as finalists it is clearly stated that, "Since selection is a lengthy process, the final decision may not be made before the end of June." They gave you that warning, and that's the risk one takes in applying for a Fulbright and being a finalist. They are dealing with hundreds of applications from many different countries, so it IS a lengthy process, especially since they are getting information from the Fulbright Commissions from all over. This has always been the process and from everyone I have talked to from past years, it's always been a lengthy process for some countries and shorter for others... it sucks because I know many of us put all our eggs in one basket with the Fulbright, but that's the nature of the process and a petition isn't going to change that. They aren't new to this process, or to applicants' anxieties...
  7. I'm no expert and am definitely not sure, but I think it's based more on the country and less on ETA vs researchers. But I'm sure it varies by each country..
  8. Some countries don't have Washington DC orientations and just have in-country orientations. I know Brazil doesn't have a DC orientation. I'm not sure which other countries do and don't have them, but it says in the acceptance letter.
  9. The medical forms are really detailed and need a Doctor's visit and I think a blood test and what not, it's really thorough and not something you can fill out on your own. I dont think they send you anything else until you send in the medical form.
  10. However, not all countries have pre-departure orientations in DC. Some just have orientations once you arrive in the country.
  11. is it only a Snail Mail notification, or is there an E-mail as well? Good Luck all!
