  1. Thanks for that info! Although I am disappointed, it's good to know now rather than waiting for however long it takes them to send out rejections. Congrats on your acceptance!
  2. Wouldn't the number of offers be more than the number of students who would eventually be enrolled? So, they could have 30 offers and have 20 - 25 people accept. Their website says that they typically get around 600 applications. So, yeah, I think you're right that the number of apps might have gone down...
  3. Ugh, yeah, sorry to bring the negative vibe, but I think Columbia might be done. It seems to be the same pattern as a lot of the other places. Accepted candidates are told informally and rejections come later. I agree that the absence of a wait list does seem unusual, but it could just be that people haven't posted yet. Or, even wait list people might find out later. A Yale wait list was posted just yesterday (a day before the rejections), so maybe wait listers will find out later.
  4. Do we think that Columbia is done sending acceptances as well?
  5. Yep, got the Yale rejection. To be honest, this one really stung. I don't know why they even interviewed me if they were not interested. The interview was basically a casual conversation that seemed to go pretty well. I don't see how that could have tipped things either way. Oh well. C'est la vie.
  6. Interesting... there's a Yale wait list on the results page. Could anyone provide more info about that, if at all possible? Thanks!
  7. So anyone else think that Harvard is done? I think they have sent out all the acceptances they are going to send out and rejections will come via snail mail next month. At least that is what seemed to have happened last year (please correct me if someone knows different). I just wish some of these schools would just send the rejections already (Yale, I'm looking at you). Honestly, if they have let the accepted people know, then why can't they take the time to let the rejectees know as well.
  8. Congrats!!! Did you apply for the MA or the PhD?
  9. Come on, Yale! What's the hold up? Just send that rejection and get this over with, so I can MOVE ON!
  10. Ugh, I know! I just want that Yale rejection now so I can have closure on move on. Curses for even getting my hopes up with the interview!
  11. Oh okay, that makes sense. Thanks for the info!
  12. Thanks for all the Skype tips from yesterday everyone! My interview went really well. In other news, how come there are Yale acceptances popping up today!? The one on the results page says it was sent on 11 Feb, which was Saturday. Is Yale still sending out acceptances, or is that when that person received it? I thought they were all sent last Wednesday..
  13. Thanks zb642 and crater!!
  14. Thank you!!! Those tips are amazing. Many thanks!
  15. Thanks Telemaque, Safferz, SapperDaddy and everyone else! These are super-helpful suggestions!
  16. Hi everyone! I've been invited to a Skype conversation with a POI tomorrow. It's an interview stage, but they are just calling it a "conversation". Any thoughts on what to expect? Should I prepare or read up on anything? Any and all advice much appreciated. Thanks!!
  17. Okay folks, I'm going to go ahead and put Yale into the "rejection" column. Haven't heard anything yet, and I think all admitted people have been notified through DGS. This one hurts a bit because I actually thought I had a really good interview and a very nice chat with my POI. I almost wish I hadn't been asked to interview because then at least I wouldn't have got my hopes up for no reason.
  18. Not to worry, I know what you meant. And, honestly, I'm more curious than hopeful at this point anyway. Thanks though!
  19. Thanks crazedandinfused! I love that this is such a welcoming community! I wonder if there is a Yale wait list... hmm... Good luck with hearing back from your schools!!
  20. Thank you, virmundi, both for the encouragement and the info! In my experience, if the emails are coming from the DGS, they tend to come together, whereas if they are coming from POIs, they are more scattered. But, as you mentioned, that yours came on Thursday. So, that gives me some hope! Thanks again, and congrats on your acceptance!
  21. Hi everyone! I'm the stereotypical long-time lurker, first-time poster. Just wondering if anyone had any more info about Yale. I had an interview, but I haven't heard anything yet - should I assume I didn't get in? Are there are any other Yale interviewees who haven't heard yet? Also, for those who got accepted, did you all hear around the same time from the DGS? Or through some other means? I just saw a new Yale acceptance posted on the results survey, and I wondered if people are still continuing to hear. Thanks everyone!! And, many congrats to those who have been accepted!
