Well, I was admitted to NEU last year and got a message from the DGS that finally they would be offering me funding. Three days later, got a message again saying that they obviously wouldn't be able to offer that funding package anymore because of some kind of a budget shift. I was shocked. But a more surprising thing just came out this year. They aren't offering me admission at all. Yes, I know, "unusually competitive pool of applicants".
And just saw that they had lost somebody's application last year. I am starting to feel that there is something wrong with NEU.

Good to know about NEU. I was accepted to NEU last year, but deferred b/c they did not offer funding. I just heard from them this Friday and well, because of an "unusually competitive year," they are not forwarding me on for funding.
Not sure what is going on there...

Hi, so are you accepted but couldn't receive a funding offer? I was accepted last year also and wait-listed for funding but couldn't get an offer at the end. I am very curious about my situation this year. I guess I should contact the graduate director.

Wait listed at Northeastern and Loyola, rejected from BU and Brandeis.....rough week for me.
So there are some rejections, one acceptance and one wait-listed for Northeastern. My status still says `under committee review`. I wonder if all the rejections find out their status by a random website check.
Giddens, could you please inform us how you were contacted by Northeastern? There was no wait list for Northeastern last year.

Has anyone else here applied to BU, Kent State, Temple or Northeastern?
I just submitted my Northeastern application. The deadline is Feb 1. They won't say something until March, I think.

Congratulations! I am still waiting but I think I have no chance at all. My concentration is globalization as well. I think there are no more spots remaining there. Do you think they will inform the ones who will not be offered funding? I still need to hear the final decision.

I was at the open house and funding issues still seem to be so vague. There were 12 people visiting and only one of them was already offered funding. I talked to the graduate coordinator myself and he said 7-8 people are usually funded by the department in a year. It seems that we are waiting for them to reject the offers. That made my hopes decrease.

I have been rejected! As one of the professors told me (who told me she would be happy to work with me), my application was very strong, but the department HAD to reject my application because of my speaking score in TOEFL, for which the minimum WAS NOT explicitly written anywhere. Do I have to ask all the minimums one by one before I apply to the schools? This must be a joke!

Yes, I got exactly the same message. I thought they would send the funding information later and this was true for everyone accepted. I don't know. Did anybody get some funding information before?

me! I learned that they have already made their decisions.

Same here. I think they have not offered funding to anybody yet. So it is not really like a 'wait list'. I hope they will let us know about that funding issues soon.

Does anyone know if the acceptance/ rejection processes for international students are different? It seems that I am waiting for a decision more than the others who already posted their status.

Is anyone waiting to hear from Simon Fraser? I know there are some acceptances for the MA program, but I am still waiting to hear about the PhD program. I just need to hear from them to make my final decision.
I e-mailed to the DGS last week and he said they were completing their deliberations and I should hear by early this week.
