Does anyone have any idea as to what Georgetown's or GWU's processes are?
-
It seems like the Berkeley rejections have either stopped for today or are in fact moving incredibly slow...
-
Apparently all NU decisions will be out by "the end of the week"
-
How long ago did Berkeley start sending rejection letters out?
-
Soooooooo.....NU, UVA, UPenn?
-
This is interesting, especially since she said the same thing at the beginning of last week.
-
Okay. When did they send that email?
-
If I may ask, what was Brown's objective for contacting you?
-
I'd agree with you. One person posted that they were contacted by a POI, and another by the Grad Coordinator. Wouldn't the process be a little bit more coordinated?
-
Sorry to hear that news. I'm waiting on NW as well. The agony.... That's interesting about UPenn, especially since only like two acceptances have been posted so far this cycle. Are you sure that just because you are unofficially out means that everyone is out?
-
Yeah, this certainly makes it more interesting (and distracting). I don't know how to discern what it means, but I keep telling myself that rejection is still quite likely: perhaps they simply sent out some rejections on Saturday and will send the rest tomorrow. The thing is, it appears that they are a week behind vis-a-vis last year's schedule. If it is actually the case that they are on the same schedule as last year, then more rejections should come out tomorrow along with a few acceptances, followed by more rejections around next weekend. Maybe someone else has more info on this year's process? I know someone called the department last week and was told that all decisions would be finalized by last Friday (the 17th). If it is the case that everything has indeed been done, then they clearly are operating on a different schedule from last year.

Congratulations! So much for weekends (well, I guess just Sundays now) being "safe" (although in this case it's not a bad thing!)
-
No, I'm pretty sure the rejections went out yesterday afternoon, given the earlier posts in this forum. Or perhaps the online notification was delayed for some technical reason and wasn't available until Saturday afternoon. Who knows.
-
Isn't Bueno de Mesquita at NYU? Also, Robert Pape at UChicago works on terrorism and Wendy Pearlman at Northwestern does a little on terrorism as well.
-
A bunch went out yesterday; the ones posted today could just be those that were sent yesterday (given that it is a Sunday and I highly doubt that the department would be working today). EDIT: for clarity purposes
-
Thanks a lot for that input! It would be great to end up with the chance to work with them, but for now all I can do is hope...

I'd love to partake in such an activity, but the large amount of work that I have forces me to be at a computer (which in turn unfortunately provides access to this forum). Add to this the continuing uncertainty of where I will be in the Fall after graduating this May, and you get a constant distraction. EDIT: my spelling is bad

Interested in nationalism, political identity, state formation, authoritarian durability (basically the really hard-core comparativist stuff) with a regional focus on the Middle East. However, I have secondary interests in IR, mostly collective violence, identity in conflict, etc. As far as profs, I'd like to work with Pearlman, Mahoney, Reno, Spruyt. But I've tried not to think about it too much, as I do not want to get my hopes up/get attached to any one school (as trying as it may be). What about you?
-
rogerfed: I was just looking at NU in last year's cycle, but it's hard to discern any patterns from the results. kem140: I completely agree with you. I am finding it so hard to concentrate on anything right now, especially since the results appear as though they will be staggered. Waiting in limbo stinks, especially if it ends up as a negative outcome.
-
I'm comparative as well. However, I hesitate to think that they are taking a field-based approach given that blaspheming's field is American politics and he heard from NU. But who knows...
-
As you might have inferred from my original post, I'm in the same situation and trying to figure out what it means (though the post by blaspheming does make some sense).
-
What are some of the subfields of those who received unfortunate outcomes from NU? P.S. Sorry to hear such news. I'm sure things will work out for you all in the end (if they haven't already).

Can we consider Penn a member of the list of schools that seem to be employing a "rolling" process?
-
I thought someone called Northwestern and was told that decisions would be finalized and sent out today?
