  1. hey guys, I got admitted into my dream school and am certain that I want to accept them. Even though the package hasn't arrived yet and i have yet to see the actual funding offer, I've already gone ahead and told them I want to accept them. I'll also be turning down my other offers (even those that haven't come in). I'm going to Princeton, my dream for the past 4 years and I never imagined that I would have this once in a lifetime opportunity. Its been nice talking to you guys on this forum, thanks for helping me maintain some of my sanity by knowing that I was not the only person clicking refresh on applycorner and yuster every hour for the past 1 and a half months. I love your jokes and we should totally meet up and have a gradcafe reunion at APSA or something :P.

Take care, this is Purgatory logging off and going over the moon to heaven.

  2. hey Silencio,

I called the grad admin at WUSTL yesterday, and she said they've finished sending out most of their acceptances. She then went to check the status of my application and it was a reject. She wanted to comfort me over the phone by telling me they had more than 220 applicants and accepted only 22 people... I was too discouraged to talk to her over the phone.

  3. Out of all the top tier theory schools, I had the highest hopes of getting accepted into WUSTL because there is a lot of faculty there that match my interests. On top of that my department has hired three of their PHDs in recent years (one whom I have worked very closely with), so it is something of a shock to get rejected there. Guess I was obnoxious too about my own chances .

  4. I think university of Wisconsin and UW-Seattle sent out acceptances to int students first. As for NYU, their grad director says that its not yet finished and i've heard also that the final list of names has not yet been circulated. I know... it drives me balmy too when schools release results in waves, I would rather get dinged immediately than be left hanging for days and weeks.

  5. i wish! it seems like most of the UW admits so far have been international students. i wonder if they are notified first... or maybe they just make up a large % of the admitted cohort this year...

anyways, all my mail gets delivered to my husband at work. so if i get a letter today, i should get a call from him relatively soon...

my friend got the mailed admit to UW about 35 hours ago. she's an international student so your guess seems to be on the mark (and no she doesn't come to forums or yuster). Maybe its the US postal system thats slow!

It looks like its just a couple of us who are so neurotic! I think we're like some kind of support group. We should meet up and have a beer sometime maybe during this year's APSA or something (some of us are bound to be lost in that sea of strangers). Maybe hoist a mug to how we were once young hopefuls that dreamed of studying poli science at a school 'x' but look where we ended up today.

  6. My subfield is in Political Theory and I'm applying to UVa, NYU, Yale, Stanford, U of C and Princeton.

I have no email whatsoever but I just checked the UVa website and it says, "Admission Status: Admit". Trying not to get too excited until I get an email 8). But i'm certainly rather relieved! Wonder if I'm part of the 70% that gets funding for the first year!!!

  7. Thanks for the movie tips guys.

There seems to be a lot of us political science majors on this forum. I'm one too. I know what you mean about the Chicago email too. Actually the Yale one (about sending in more documents) this week was the freaky one for me and i found my mouse hand quivering over the email. I'm an international applicant and it has been more than two months since I ordered my Toefl scores but apparently notre dame still hasn't received them... I've kind of given up on that application. I gave up on all the English schools because of their lack of financial support.

I've actually heard that some poli science programs get back to people in late january, gee is it almost time?

  8. I'm catching up with all the movies, anime and manga I missed while I was working hard to get into the position to apply for grad school hehe. :P Its kind of funny this might be the only free time we have in the 10 year period from the beginning of undergrad life to grad life and here we are busy doing all this entertainment things. We should like totally be doing research for our dissertations or something.
