For which country did you apply?

Did you get a tentative acceptance? I talked to Elena Hillenburg last week, and she said that if you have tentative acceptance and haven't heard anything from JSPS it's a good sign. She said that the JSPS will usually tell NSF about rejections and problems.

I received the email to make travel arrangements, and I just hung up the phone after booking my flight SATO. See you all in DC!

I was wondering the same thing. The email they sent me on Feb. 29 said that within the next two weeks they will send me some information about booking a flight, but I haven't heard anything yet. I already booked the hotel room. I received an email just now from Elena Hillenburg asking me for my banking information so they can set up direct deposit for the stipend. As far as I know, all that needs to happen for this to be official is the JSPS needs to confirm with my host researcher that he can accommodate me.

I got the tentative offer for Japan and have already booked my room at the Marriott in D.C. Has anyone gotten their official confirmation yet?

I'm in for Japan too. I got an email from Akiko Chiba this morning saying that when my host researcher in Japan confirms that I'm accepted to his laboratory this summer, the JSPS will send me a formal acceptance letter. Has anyone else got anything similar to report?

Me too. Does anyone know how likely it is to get final acceptance given the fact that we've made it this far?

Yesterday morning (2/29) they emailed me with instructions to make hotel reservations for the Pre-Departure Orientation in Washington DC. Has anyone else gotten this?
