  1. Just found out I got in to Teachers College. I will be rejecting the offer. Hope this helps someone!
  2. I love this community! I am jealous of how you, Jenn1991, are plugging in so early! I only discovered this website well after I had applied. It is nice to know you are not going it alone. Is anyone else deciding on a school that is not their "best" on paper? Financial and geographical constraints can weigh in more than academic aspirations when it comes down to the wire! Any thoughts?
  3. Aw, man! I think I am doomed to be one of those kept waiting until June for Northwestern. Epic fail.
  4. Yeesh. I was hoping to hear right around the same time as the masters applicants but that is apparently wishful thinking. Hopefully soon!
  5. Congrats on the acceptance at SCSU! I am also seriously considering heading to New Haven. Some factors for me are the relatively inexpensive tuition and all the new construction that has been done on the campus in the past few years. Another consideration is that my husband has been admitted to Yale for a PhD program. Other places I have been accepted (BU, MGH, NYU, Emerson, UConn) would all be fairly rough commutes, though UConn wouldn't be awful. The program is so long at SCSU! What are you thinking about that?
  6. Did anyone else apply to the postbac program at UW? Have you heard anything?
  7. I feel your pain! My husband will also be in school in the next year (though for a PhD) and we have spent the majority of the last 2 days at each others throats about financing my education. It is so expensive! Thankfully, we have no debt from undergrad, but we are suffering some serious sticker shock right now. One thing that I have turned to is ASHA's list of private scholarships. http://www.asha.org/students/financial-aid.htm I bet all of these are very competitive, but it feels nice to be proactive. I, too, am looking at having to take out private loans. Not good. Let me know if you find another good resource!
  8. Is anyone toying with the idea of transferring into a PhD after/halfway into a Masters? Does anyone know how common that is? I have been eyeing a few advisors and thinking that combining a MS and PhD might be in my future.
  9. So not to beat a dead horse, but man. I STILL haven't heard anything from either TC or UW. Is anyone in the same boat?
  10. Wow! A huge pat on the back to all of our accepted students today, and a hug for those that received a hard word. It is truly incredible to be part of this community at a time like this. I heard nothing today; I applied to both UW and TC and know nothing Last name starts with M. Maybe tomorrow has something snazzy up its sleeve...
  11. About TC and UW, are we thinking no news is bad news?
  12. You said it. I am doing the same!
  13. I am interested in chronic fluency disorders in the adult population. I am also interested in traumatic brain injury and neurogenic disorders (global aphasia). I am happy to have just been accepted to UConn. Does anyone know if there is an option to take any courses over the summer? It seems like the plan excludes summer work. Maybe we can do a practicum?
  14. How do we know that Northwestern will not release decisions until mid-March? On the status page it says decisions will be made late-Feb to early March. You guys all seem to have inside info! I appreciate your sharing it with me!
  15. You are brave! Thanks for taking one for the team, lizmeyers2.
  16. I received an email from UConn saying they had made a decision on my application a few days back. I checked the application and it still said "complete" and "submitted" and there didn't appear to have been any change. I emailed grad admissions to inquire and was told (informally) that I was admitted. When I went to post my "acceptance" on the results, I noticed another poster had been admitted via the postal service. Perhaps something is in the mail for us? I am from SF CA but visited CT and would love acceptance to both UConn and Southern CT state. Here's to hoping we will be classmates come fall!
