I had to change all my methods and stats about 30 mins before my defense seminar.
This is literally the most stressful thing I can contemplate happening going into a thesis defense.

I have regularly found cheap flights from www.momondo.com. I have also had some success in the past using http://matrix.itasoftware.com/search.htm. The latter is a flight calendar / matrix powered by Google that shows you the cheapest available flights for your selected date range (assuming you have some flexibility in booking). You can't actually purchase the tickets from the ITA site, but at least you will know what type of dollar value you should be looking for (or if all else fails, it will give you something to stand on when bartering with a travel agency!).

I use this
It is amazing. It allows you to organize all of your papers, store 2 GB online (to access anywhere), and it will also help your do your citations and inline citations in a document. You can take notes, highlight, add summaries, etc. Everything is within this one program so you don't have to have a bagillion things open everywhere. You can also use it for group projects and share sources.
This is like a free and better Endnote. I can't believe I lived without it before!!!
I second this. I've been using Mendeley for a few years now and it really prevents a lot of unnecessary frustration.

This only applies to people who were awarded the CGS M or PGS M back in 2009 or something (i.e. the old two year CGS/PGS M awards). Now we only get 1 year awards for masters studies.
Ah, that explains things. Thank you.

I've heard that there is a process for a current CGS - M or PGS - M holder to apply for an extension of their support for an additional year. I've searched around on the site but couldn't seem to find any useful information. Does anybody know anything about this?

Received my NSERC letter in the mail today.

I'm in Saskatchewan, so letters should be in your mailboxes Westerners!

Well, at least some good news on the NSERC front today for climate change scientists:

I'm also at an institution with a relatively small graduate program and have been told by the awards officer that results should be available the week of April 22.
