Well, I was also 'near the top' on the wait list at Northwestern and just accepted another offer and asked them to remove me from their wait list. Hopefully that will help you a little! Don't lose hope!

I am applying for a Math PhD and I have learned from a professor in Northwestern that I am in their waiting list(this is all I have so far). While I am "quite near the top of the list", it is not clear whether they will make any more offers. They may have decision next week...

So, please give me a hand! If you are about to decline Northwestern math, please let me know, I will be grateful!
