  1. Nevermind. It's April 15.
  2. I also received my official letter from the Graduate Division this morning (I received my letter from the Department last Thursday). Everyone is so green now so it basically consists of a lot of links for the program, checklist, orientation, etc. But the most important parts of the letter are the Statement of Intention to Register (SIR) and Statement of Legal Residence (SLR). But for some reason, I couldn't find the deadline for the letter of intent. Does anyone know that date?
  3. LOL! I know what you mean. Everyday I check my application for SF State and it keeps saying "Pending." I feel like at this point everyone in the admission office is just sitting around with their feet up, drinking whiskey, and shooting darts at applications, lol.
  4. I'm pretty sure you got in. Why would he mess with you if the envelope was really small? That's just plain evil, lol! An early congrats to you and FIGHT ON!!!!!!!
  5. Don't give up hope! If anything these decision notifications are sporadic at best. Some people found out as early as February and others found out yesterday. Do not despair!!!!
  6. Ugh. It's tough. The best thing about SF State is that I can keep working full-time. They have an array of options for working professionals to get their degree. Plus I wouldn't have to move and it's cheaper than UCLA. With that being said, I'd feel quite foolish to turn down UCLA for SF State. Not that I'm saying anything bad about SF State's MSW program! Not at all! In fact, it's quite competitive. I'm starting to doubt my chances of getting in. But I'd rather UCLA. If UCLA can get me a decent financial aid package, I'll most likely end up there. A Trojan becoming a Bruin. Ouch. LOL.
  7. I haven't received an email from the Graduate Division yet. I THINK you have to wait until you receive the formal acceptance letter/email from the Graduate Division. Lance said that those who are accepted will be officially admitted once the Graduate Division processes their transcripts. But I guess you could respond directly to Lance, although he might just say thanks, feign excitement, and then direct you to let the Grad Division know of your decision once you hear back from them. I could be wrong though.
  8. Hi Future MSW 2012 (and congrats to you!), Just due to proximity and geographical location (I live in Northern California), UC Berkeley was my fist choice but I was denied. Don't get me wrong. I'm SUPER excited about UCLA and was quite surprised that I even got in. But now all of these logistics are popping up. The obvious being that I live 400 miles away. The second is that I'm married. But a nice caveat is that I'm from LA and my mom still lives there. If push comes to shove I'll just live w/ her. But there a million things I need to consider before making a decision. I'm still waiting to hear from SF State and USC (which is where I went for undergrad). Sigh...
  9. Hello Wishing, Thanks so much for your feedback! I heard back from an Admissions Associate in the MSW department and he echoed what you said. He told me not to worry about the wording and that it must be written with that terminology. My friend attended UCLA for her MSW and pretty much said the same thing. But thanks again and congrats on BU!
  10. I, too, received an email yesterday stating that I was admitted into UCLA's MSW program. My acceptance letter reads exactly like the others. But as I was reading the letter, I became concerned about the wording. My attached letter states that the Chair of the Social Welfare Dpt. has "recommended" to the Graduate Division that I be admitted into the program. When perusing other forums, I saw that someone who was admitted into Cal's MSW program recently spoke w/ someone in admissions. They said that it is ultimately up to the Graduate Division to determine whether we get in or not. This person received their "acceptance" email last week but has heard nothing since from the department. So I was elated yesterday and now I'm just confused, almost borderline worried. Bah! Maybe I'm just being too anal over semantics. The email DID say congratulations on your admission to the program. But that word "recommended" is rubbing me the wrong way. Can someone give me piece of mind before I drive myself crazy? I emailed Lance but I'm pretty sure he's inundated with all of these crazy people asking stupid questions...like me! Thanks and congrats to those who got in!
