Has anyone heard anything from Maryland yet? I know after getting nothing but rejections, it might just be a pipe dream to get into one school, but thought I would ask. I anticipated a possible two year attempt for applying to Ph.D. programs anyway. I just spend another year where I am, finish a second master's degree, start to learn a language, defend my thesis, and reapply.

Two things of note: One regarding GRE scores and Graduate School Admissions people, most of my applications appeared to not have my GRE scores back in Jan., and it turned out that all of the fancy computer software programs they run could not link my last name to my GRE scores because I have a suffix (III). Got to love technology. Finally, has anyone heard anything from Northwestern Yet? That is all from me. Waiting for: Northwestern, UNC, Maryland, Montana State. Rejected: Michigan State Accepted: No where...

So I heard from my first school today, Michigan State. Rejected....I know there are more apps still out there, but it still hurts. According to their letter, it was a very large pool of applicants.

UNC finally returned my phone call, and the issue is resolved.

Every time I have tried to contact them, I only get an answering machine without the option to speak to a real person. I did contact both ETS and the department, so they do know what is going on.

Has anyone else had problems applying to UNC. They keep telling me they do not have my GRE scores, but ETS sent them back in November. Every time I try to call the grad school, I leave a message, and they never get back to me.

After many years of thought, work and pain, it comes down to this, the waiting it killing me. On top of the stress of waiting, I am supposed to finish writing and defend a thesis! Got to love grad school. Anyway, my field is Gilded Age and Progressive Era American Culture and Technology (nothing like a super specific field right?). I applied to Montana State, Northwestern, Michigan State, Texas, Maryland, UNC and WUSTL. Can't wait to hear.
