  1. Thanks! I contacted the graduate coordinator this morning, and you were right busybee3. It is meant to serve as my summer funding. Whew. 5k would NOT have been enough to live on for a year.
  2. Hi all, this may not be the best place for this question, but I'm not sure where else to post. In my official acceptance letter, I was told I'd be supported by a TAship. Today, I received a letter in the mail saying I'd been granted a $5000 fellowship to be awarded in May 2013 (guess they want to make sure I don't drop out before giving me money). I am assuming this is on top of the stipend from my TAship?
  3. I'm from Wake Forest University (but living in Virginia currently). I have heard back, got accepted to Austin, and will be attending in the fall. I know pretty much nothing about pharmacology programs, so my only suggestion would be "go to Austin!" but that's obviously a really biased opinion. I do have a friend at MUSC, but he's there for med school, so I guess that's really no help either. Though, as a city, I much prefer Austin to Charleston.
  4. Hello, I am really late to this thread, I know nothing about the programs and this may be a little creepy, but I stumbled across this thread when I searched "Austin," and I think I met you at the behavioral neuroscience interview weekend a couple weeks ago! If not, please completely disregard this message, haha.
  5. That makes sense. I was hoping that at this point paper applications wouldn't be a priority, so I hope you're right. Thanks!
  6. I recently returned from an interview weekend that I think went pretty well (yay). However, my POI said that the program committee (who were the interviewers/potential PIs) make recommendations to the department committee. From this list the department committee then makes official decisions based on funding and other criteria. Does this mean that the departmental committee makes their decisions more based on our paper-based applications rather than interviews? And is it likely that the departmental committee will at least try to take all the program committee's recommendations?
