Seeking Some Guidance In Selecting an I.R. Program

Hey riverguide, I noticed you applied for the Pickering Fellowship during the 2013 cycle. I know you were rejected by the selection committee, but did you at least make it to the finalist round? If so, do you have any tips on how to best prepare for the written exam and/or the interview? Also, in hindsight, what was your downfall? Thanks
