  1. I am a CS student from India and wish to pursue PhD after MS in HCI or AI. I have admits at University of Southern California (USC) and Washington University in St. Louis (WUStL). Though USC is higher ranked and cheaper than WUStL (#20 against #39) in US news, considering the massive number of students that are admitted to USC, does it make a good university to perform research for MS students? Like with around 300-400 grad students, what are the odds that you can actually establish a rapport with teachers and do some research together? On the other hand, WUStL has smaller class size and more research oriented nature in general. So what should I choose: (rank + cost + location) vs (smaller classes + better exposure)?
  2. I am an international applicant applying for MS in Computer Science for AI. I have got an admit from Washington University in St. Louis. The problem is, for some reason, very less number of people from India apply here (at least for engineering) and all information I have is from their web site. I would like to ask some questions to people from this forum. First of all, is this university reputed and has a good CS dept? Since there is no funding for MS, are there any RA/TA available for students? If not, are there any campus jobs available? Do big CS companies take interns from here? How is the overall job scene in St. Louis and in this university in particular? Finally, is this one good for research? will the MS from here be respected in top 20s for PhD? Thank you so much in advance.
