I am planning on getting a mph in epi, starting this fall. I recently decided to go to GWU, and was about to send my declaration of intent today, but just found out that I have also been accepted into the program at UIC. The schools have the same ranking, both located in big cities. GWU needs 45 credits to graduate, UIC needs 42. Tuition-wise, they end up being really close - around $55,000. Ive read that living in chicago is slightly cheaper, but I'm not able to figure out if the opportunities in dc will be enough to make up for that. I am also from michigan, so chicago would be closer to home, but that is not a deal-breaker. Thoughts??? I need to get back to GWU soon (UIC has given me until May 15th), so i would appreciate any suggestions/advice that I can get. If possible, Id like to avoid sending a deposit to GWU, and then changing my mind; or losing the opportunity to go to GWU by not getting back to them in time.
Also, I heard from some people that if you call universities and tell them you are having a hard time deciding, they may offer scholarships/assistantships as an incentive? Is this true?
Thanks!
