  1. For those that did hear, did you apply to a special section and did you hear about that award as well? I haven't applied to a special section before.
  2. I can't take another week of this! There is no way they can let this go on for that long is there??
  3. Has anyone heard of anyone being approved yet?? Everyone I've heard from was rejected...
  4. I'm curious, for the people who haven't heard yet, did you apply to a special area? I'm wondering if that is what it is.
  5. And....site crashed. Just like last year.
  6. Damn, the site is going to take forever, isn't it?
  7. I think the year I got it (2010) there was 628 people that applied and 483 got funded. So your chances were much, much higher. I was 2 years out of my undergrad so I didn't have to apply through a school. I think we also have to remember some of those 1000 applications to CIHR DRA are utter garbage and have no chance of being funded. The people on here are most likely not the ones with margins that are too small, or missing parts of the application etc. I was ranked 340 last year and had one reviewer completely misread my supervisors CV (they said she had supervised 10 students in the past 10 years and it was more like 38 and completely missed the part about her being a senior CIHR chair...). So there is hope!
  8. My first year masters I didn't get OGS, but I got CIHR. I think they have different criteria? From the numbers, it also appears that way fewer people apply to the masters funding and more get funded. Go figure.
  9. I tried calling, got an answering machine. I assume many people are trying to call. If its not up in the next 20 minutes I am not sure it will come up at all today. Most government jobs end at 4:30 pm, not 5
  10. If you did not write a thesis, you will have a VERY hard time getting in. SFU is incredibly competetive (rightly so as it is the epi-centre of forensic research in Canada) and people typically have conference presentations and some even have publications coming in. I suggest you take a year (or two or three) off and get an RA position where you can help publish. That experience will help you get in and get to know researchers in the area. Apply for positions at the school you want to go to and hopefully the prof likes you enough to take you if you apply.
  11. Who is loving the new Common CV?? Esp when you are updating your supervisors 100+ publications! *proceeds to bang head against the wall*
  12. How long did it take before you heard from them? I emailed them on Tuesday morning because I had a 2 point discrepency on my publications a 1.5 and a 3.5. I have 2 papers (not first author, but it is VERY VERY rare to have a first author paper before your 2nd or 3rd year PhD in Psychology) and a ton of conference presentations at the national and international level. We are almost wondering if it could be a typo- a 1.5- seriously?? I also had about three other 1 point discrepencies, and absolutely no comments from one reviewer. Did anyone else get weird reviews like that? Someone asked about the rankings, I was ranked 348 and my average was 4.12, cutoff had to be at least 4.4 or higher this year. My supervisor said the competetion is getting ridiculous and she is a chair.
