  1. I heard to day. I was rejected. I'm happy that it wasn't alternate, now I can move on. I live in NY. Did anyone get an acceptance to the Netherlands?
  2. Rachel assured me that the letters were mailed on Wednesday. I knew tax day would mess things up!
  3. I am just outside NY and NO NEWS from the Netherlands- This is horrible!!!
  4. I am in New York and no news came today from the Netherlands. I called Rachel Haskins and explained my situation about handing in a valedictorian essay. I could hear her turning pages about 10-15 (I wish I counted!) and she asked the name of my project and confirmed my address. She told me that my letter should arrive tomorrow but did not give me an answer. I'm so frustrated- This wait is horrible. I cannot concentrate on anything!
  5. I am normally a very positive person but it is TAX DAY! The USPS will be crazy and it will take even longer to get our news on the Netherlands. Our school has valedictorian candidates handing in essays on Friday. The theme is "What will I do with my education after commencement"! This decision has left me in an awkward position! I called Rachel and she will not tell me. This wait is killing me!
  6. I am in New York so I will post as soon as I know. My proposal is in medical research for Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam. What discipline and where is everyone elses proposals for?
  7. I am still waiting on the Netherlands. An administrator on my campus is a former Fulbrighter- twice. She served on the US selection committee as well as Italy's. She has said that many more graduate students apply than new graduate. This means that the US sends more post graduate finalists than new graduate but the selecting country must select an equal number of post grad vs. new grad. Has anyone else heard this?
  8. Update for all of you waiting for news from the Netherlands: I spoke with my campus representative today. She was at the UN yesterday and received the "inside" word that our letters will be sent out next week. This is very credible information. Out of seven candidates, I am the only hope left for my college to have its first Fulbright scholar. Talk about pressure! Good luck to everyone!
  9. So it is Monday- How many people are chasing down the mailman today? I'm waiting on the Netherlands and I'm a non-traditional student. I have to prepare a family of 4 to live abroad for a year. The wait is killing me!!!! Congrats to the confirmed '09-'10 Fulbright Scholars and good luck to those of you waiting!
  10. Is anyone else awaiting word on a research grant to the Netherlands. I'm really hoping to hear something soon!
