  1. Definitely a tough call. For me, the city played a big part in my decision considering I'll be there for at least 6 years. I have a fiancee, too, so I wanted her to be in the best position possible for her future career. I just think Boston is the best place for us.

CQE, why do you say you will be in the city for at least 6 years?  Isn't your program just one?

  2. I am of the opinion that people should not pay too much attention to graduate school rankings but U.S. News did give a "sneak peek" at the top 10 education schools today. The magazine, in its wisdom, also posted the schools in what is probably the ranked order (they certainly are not in the alphabetical order U.S. News said it was posting them in): http://www.usnews.com/education/best-graduate-schools/articles/2013/03/06/2014-best-graduate-schools-preview-top-10-education-schools

  3. My favorites are:

Yale- The American collegiate gothic architecture is impressive.

Swarthmore- Great arboretum with nice stone buildings.

Stanford- Neat old mission style campus with a mix of beautiful new buildings.

WUSTL- Especially in the fall. So many trees.

Pomona- A beautiful campus that is especially nice when you can see the mountain without any smog.

All three service academies- Good locations and unique buildings.

    Kansas- Allen Fieldhouse

Pepperdine- You might think you are at a resort.

  4. I posted this on the general HGSE board before I saw this one. I have been admitted as a PhD student elsewhere and am waiting for the Harvard decisions to go out. How do people feel about potentially being part of the last EdD class at Harvard? Is the degree change affecting your opinions of Harvard, or is the school's reputation and quality enough to keep it at the top of your lists?
