For those who have noted that there are no awards in your field, what were your reviews like? Mine were a bit harsh, and I'm wondering if the reviewers in a given field have a tendency to shoot themselves in the feet if they review proposals too intensely (in comparison to other fields).

I know that my SAT scores were on my undergrad transcript because they were reported to that institution. Perhaps your official transcript has your GRE scores reported on it.

I got absolutely hammered by my reviewers. After reading them, I feel lucky to have gotten an HM.

Of all people (no offense, Higgins) I was rooting for you the most.

HM here too. I guess I'll spend longer than 8 hours on my app next year.

Anyone know the url for the spreadsheet? Is that even a logical possibility at this point? If notification is coming tonight, it's coming in the next 45 minutes (I'm guessing).

I'm going to contribute something of worth to this forum (which is odd, I know). I just spoke with my advisor, who I would say has an excellent-to-phenomenal familiarity with the NSF and its associated red tape. He told me the NSF will know exactly how much money is coming in on May 15. God knows how long it's going to them to figure out who gets GRFs, but it's definitely going to be after then. Any PIs who have resubmitted proposals are likely to hear within that same timeframe.

Am I more likely to get the swine flu or a GRF?

Um, who the hell compares their genitalia in the schoolyard? Really though -- no one likes a penis joke? I don't understand why everyone is so uptight (I'm going to go ahead and say this this was sarcasm before you guys jump down my throat). My original comment was intended to confront the poster who felt it necessary to tell us he has gotten everything that he has ever wanted. I rarely (if ever) get what I want, but I (my penis being an intrinsic part of me) still couldn't be happier. I offer my apologies to both of you who were so deeply offended.

If those are the criteria, then I'm a definite failure. But at least my penis is happy.

I didn't send mine. If my transcripts, personal statements, solid references (6 of them), and research outline weren't enough to please them, I say, "Fuck them."

Couldn't agree more. Top-tier universities are excellent for grad students, but we really give the shaft to undergrads.

This gives me hope: Awardees, as well as Applicants not recommended for funding, have been notified by email. Recipients of Honorable Mention and any additional Fellowship award offers will be forthcoming. But who knows what the fuck that means. To the neurosciences guy, what is your last initial? I'm a physiology applicant, and as I recall, they're in the same category.

Nevermind. Must have been consecutive mistakes fueled by panic.
