  1. please tell us how that goes
  2. not entirely... i do theory
  3. thats disappointing. i was really hoping to exploit it
  4. does anyone know abt using teragrid resources as HMs (I am assuming for now that I received an HM, and plan to make the most of it)
  5. still haven't received a limbo email... has anyone?
  6. did he check for you individually, or did he mean that more generally?
  7. sorry- what # do we call? the guy at the 866-673-4737 number told me he didnt know, and that they would know later today
  8. i'm all for optimism (i just like to prepare myself for rejection...), but before, we had greater than a 10% chance of winning, knowing that our applications were at least decent ( given that a ton of applications are terrible (ie people don't know how to address broader impacts, etc)) now, the applicants selected are more or less of the same caliber, so a given application receiving an award is likely to be much more random, and we probably have nearly equal chances of receiving the award
  9. the number of HMs each year is huge... ~1400. even if they picked another 200 people, that only gives us a 14% chance. overall, our odds are way worse than before, because the pool of applicants is more selective now.
  10. thanks BioMedSciMed! if anyone knows abt the timeline of this whole limbo thing (could it really be weeks???) please tell us...
  11. i feel rather doubtful for us chemists- there are already 62 winners...
  12. is anyone else going crazy??? i almost wish i just had been rejected, rather than nothing- not even an encouraging email
  13. In reference to the hack attempts (while people are logged in as themselves): "This Government Computer System is provided as a public service by the National Science Foundation.
