I got an NSF award for psychology last year. It's based on intellectual merit and broader impacts. Basically, based on my reviews, intellectual merit is how well you've done in school and research so far and the quality of your idea. Broader impacts is how important your idea is, as well as your extracurricular activities and involvement in the community.

As far as I know, a previous HM has no effect on your current application. I got an HM last year and have re-applied but I'm not counting on getting anything!

It's back up and there's nothing new.

yeah, i don't think there was a limbo e-mail either, when i called today and asked about it, they said only those who have been accepted and rejected have gotten e-mails so far

the person i just talked to said that there are no more rejections, only HM's and more awards, which will be e-mailed out by the end of next week. she said that she couldn't give me info on my personal status, though.
