Tyler Malloy Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 Wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and what it may be a sign of. I interviewed with 2 different professors from the same university, and one of them recommended that I talk to a 3rd professor. Has anyone else experienced multiple interviews with the same university? I'm thinking it is either a sign that they are very interested and want to show me all their research, or they are very unsure and are just seeing if anyone is interested in me. Any ideas?
fuzzylogician Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 I wouldn't worry either way. Either option is possible, but they wouldn't talk to you if they weren't interested, so take it as a good sign. Do your best and see how it goes. Tyler Malloy 1
Huginn Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 (edited) This happened to me. I talked with a faculty member who seems to be interviewing everyone (it was a mass e-mail). Then I talked with my POI. After my POI, I talked with the department chair (my POI mentioned that I should expect it). I recently received an invitation to visit their campus, and my POI told me I am in a pretty good standing, but it is possible that even more people may want to talk to me. I am afraid that they may run out of faculty members to interview me before I even get a decision. Edited January 14, 2018 by Huginn broke english Tyler Malloy 1

That was exactly my thought, there are only about 3 or 4 more faculty members in the program left after these interviews.
