eln Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Hi, I was notified that I was shortlisted and to expect more details within two weeks. Any idea what does it mean? Thanks

Thanks waitlisted? i'm not sure what a shortlist would mean. maybe that you've made it past the initial round of cuts and they're making final decisions? what school / program is this?
la_mod Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 @eln hmm... i've never heard of this. i'd think? that it means they're close but still need to make a few cuts before releasing final admissions. fingers crossed for you! eln 1
a_sort_of_fractious_angel Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 (edited) Semi-educated guess: you're on a short wait-list (a few spots out.) In a couple weeks, the program may have a better sense of what other applicants are doing (if they're turning down offers or waiting it out) and can tell you more about your particular position. Do you know if they've sent out acceptances? Could be wrong, FWIW, but that would be my guess. Edited February 6, 2018 by a_sort_of_fractious_angel forgot to ask the most important Q
la_mod Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 i wonder why they wouldn't say "waitlist" though.... this is v strange

Thanks For a situation like this, where it is not clear if “shortlisted” means that concrete offers of admission have been extended to some and you are high on a waitlist, or if they will be making offers of acceptance outright in the near future and you’re high on that list, the best course of action is really to ask the DGS directly.
