hspp16 Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 I'm planning on applying to History focused MA programs. I scored 162V (90th), 152Q (47th), and 5AW (93rd) when I took them last year. Is it worth it to retake? Or will the lower quant score not be considered as heavily because of the field?
rayashcraft Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 If you ask me, I would not retake it. I know that it takes much time and efforts, but if you have such a will and opportunity, you can do it. Here are the average scores by majors https://www.prepscholar.com/gre/blog/average-gre-scores-by-major/ so as you see History has even lower scores than you have got. There was a letter by a student who also shared his experience on writemypersonalstatement.net - he had than 155 V, 149Q, 4.2 AW and was accepted at Elizabethtown College History course. CHAO_O Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 No need retake. I have V152 Q162 W3.5. Got two PhD offers :). Also as my professors said, GRE is absolutely not the most important thing among other material. Our Univ got rid of GRE in some of the programs and also does NOT take GRE into consideration in terms of providing fund.
