blon19 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Well, I just got accepted to Dartmouth and will be attending in the fall. I didn't see a topic for it, so I thought I'd start one. Anyone else thinking they'll be attending Dartmouth as well?
sindhu Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Hi. I've got an admit from Dartmouth too, for MS in Computer Science. Which course will you be attending?
Nancy Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Hey, I'll be starting there this Fall too, in the Molecular and cellular biology PhD program.
blon19 Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) Hi. I've got an admit from Dartmouth too, for MS in Computer Science. Which course will you be attending? Actually, I got accepted to the Computer Science M.S. program at Dartmouth as well. Nice to meet someone that also got accepted. Do you think that you will be going to Dartmouth in the fall or are you still weighing your other options? Also, have either of you gotten any kind of email notification about your admission? I just happened to check my online application and saw a link that had been posted on March 4th that informed me that I had been accepted and gave me information about a scholarship that I had been awarded. I just found it odd that they would accept me and award me a scholarship without letting me at least know to check the website. Edited March 6, 2010 by blon19
kinjal Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I've been accepted at the Dartmouth MCB program too! How exciting.

kinjal Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Yes almost definitely! So have you only done a Bachelor's degree or a Master's as well? I read your post about being really young and joining the graduate program; don't worry, I'm also turning just 22 this June

I read your post about being really young and joining the graduate program; don't worry, I'm also turning just 22 this June I've done an MSci degree, which is a Bachelors and Masters rolled into one. Yay to being young too, did you do a Masters?
kinjal Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Hey congrats on the acceptance! To answer your question I got an email requesting a phone interview and then another email saying that I had been accepted. Incidentally there was no change on my Darmouth online profile during this period. Kind of weird huh. Anyway I guess each department varies in its procedures. So will you be taking up the offer?
kinjal Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 My reply was meant to be a direct reply to blon19's post, but that didn't happen.

Hmm.. That is very different from my experience. The only email I've gotten from them at all was about the visitation day on April 2nd. No interview email or acceptance email for me. Oh, well. At least I was accepted. Yes, I will be accepting the offer. I haven't officially responded to their offer yet, but I am sure that I will be. I will also be attending the visitation day in April. Do you think that you may be going to that as well?
linkerr Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Hi all, I'll be starting there this Fall too, in the Mathematics PhD program.

No unfortunately I won't be able to make the April 2 orientation because I live in India and I'll be coming directly in August when the course is scheduled to start. Will probably bump into you during the term though
canukgirl4 Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Hey, Nice to meet everyone. I will be attending this August but for my MPH. Has everyone figured out where they are going to live.
blon19 Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 Has everyone figured out where they are going to live. Hi! I haven't a clue about where I'm going to be living, but I will be attending the computer science department's open house next weekend so hopefully I can have a chance to look into something while I'm in Hanover.
Nancy Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 They have this big first year graduate housing complex, it houses like 100 people split up into apartments of 4 I think. I was considering it because I'm from the UK so can't visit to look for somewhere to live, I'd hate to sign up for an apartment and realise it's actually a lot further away from school and food than I thought (I can't drive yet either), and I think I like the idea of moving into a place and instantly having 100 neighbours in the same boat as you, especially cos of moving away. However, it's just a thought, so I dunno yet! They have a page on the website about it, it's called North Park. What are other people thinking about doing?
kinjal Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Yeah I'm an international student as well and North Park looks like a great option to me too, at least for the first year.

Blon, From what I understand, grad housing is a lottery, so there is no garuntee that any of us will get it. I am going to apply anyways, but in the event I don't get it, I'll be searching for a female grad student roomate. It's just tough because I am leaving my car in Toronto, so I need to find something slose to transit or walking!
anujgupta Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Hi everyone, I'll be starting there this Fall too, CS PhD program.
