I am also interested to know what people do over the summer. I probably am going to go to LBJ and am really excited about living in Austin, but I would like to do a summer internship in DC.

Hi all! I am a current LBJer. It's a great school and I am really happy with my decision to come here. DC summer internships abound and a lot of our students go to DC for summer internships. There is also a large alumni network in DC. So I wouldn't worry about being stuck in Texas.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I got word of funding today via e-mail and I'm 99% sure I will be attending LBJ. To LBJers: is Camp LBJ worth going to? Also, I have yet to fulfill the calculus prerequisite. Has anyone studied for it on their own to take the validation exam rather than taking a whole course? How difficult was it? I took calculus in high school and I don't remember much of it... I took Statistics last summer and aced it, if that means anything.

Got my "official letter" today via email (no funding). If i decide to attend i need calculus as well, i think i would enroll in the basic calc class at the community college here in Austin (gets the job done and is much cheaper). Although Camp LBJ looks like it could be interesting, i would most likely stick with my job until at least the first week in Aug, but if you didnt have anything else holding you down, go for it.

I would definitely recommend going to Camp LBJ. A friend of mine studied for the calculus test herself and passed the validation exam. She just went to Camp LBJ and then took the test. Although it will mean having to leave your job earlier I still think it is definitely worth going to. What you get out of it is much more than just attending a refresher course on stats and calculus. Feel free to PM me to get more info on Camp LBJ.
