Hi All,

NOt sure how many of the MS OR applicants have used the online admissions link

I have checked it before for my Columbia applicant ID (10 digit ID starting with a C) but was always shown two link - one for the current application (with updates of recos/scores/etc) and another to the Financial Aid System Online. Today, there are 2 more links under the Financial Aid called Entrance/Exit Interviews and Perkins Master Promissory Note. I know I'm getting paranoid waiting for my results and feel like reading into everything which gives me hope. Is everyone getting these additional links or does this mean something for my application status ?

Hoping to hear from other applicants soon.

Thanks,

nitinl

Applied to : Stanford (MS&E), Cornell (ME ORIE), Columbia (MSOR)

Rejects : Stanford

Admits : :(

Haven't received a decision here, either. I remember getting an email many months ago confirming items received, but nothing since.

Hey guys,

Just saw this at the Columbia web page. Looks like 2010 has been a complete fiasco for Columbia.

The application deadline for MS Only for the Fall 2010 Term has been extended until April 15th.

Why is this a sign of bad time?

Bad time for Columbia.

Why do you need to extend the deadline 2 more months?

why do you need to interview and convince people to come to columbia?

They didn't have to do that before? why now?

More programs, more competition.

Deadline extension is a good argument for bad time...

However, if they want to convince people to come, why not simply offer them admission (or better yet, offer them financial aid (full or partial) too), and save the interview process? Normally, interview is used to filter out the borderline applicants. So I am not sure interview MS applicants is a sign of bad time. But it definitely looks weird.

But the question is definitely, "Why now"? This is something that intrigues me as well.

I assumed the interviews would be to gauge the interest of an MFE applicant to pursue a course in OR.

I guess the interviews/ discussions have started today.

Request the people who have had the interview to share with us what it was all about.

EDIT : a friend who got "interviewed" was asked just 3 simple questions - Is he interested in the OR program, Has he applied to other schools and How he plans to finance the program. Looks like once these questions are answered satisfactorily, these applications will be added to the MSOR application pool.

sounds like it's not really an "acamedic" type of interview (i.e. why you want to come, how the program will help you in the future, why you are good fit for the program... types of question). Instead, it's more like gauging the interest ...

^^ yup - did not sound like an academic interview at all.

Any idea when we can expect results news for MSOR now ?? another week/two weeks ?
