Phone Calls

I've missed 3 "restricted number" phone calls in the past 2 weeks! Why do I leave my cell phone in my car?! But is it common, anyway, to have profs. call from a blocked number?

Then again, telemarketers are just as likely. The thing is, most professors leave a polite, yet uninformative, message when they call.

No messages! My phone blocks telemarketer calls, however. But you don't think missing phone calls would disadvantage my application right? I suspect they would email applicants if phone calls aren't picked up...but no emails either!

If they leave a message and you don't reply, then that could hurt your app (depending on the circumstances). If they don't leave a message, I sincerely doubt they'd expect anything out of you. I wouldn't worry. Really.

I got some missed calls from a school I applied to and no message, too! I was going insane 'cause I recognized the area code and knew it had to be them. A few days later I finally got an email about it and was relieved.

I have had a few "unavailable" calls that I couldn't answer while running experiments, but no message was left. The last one was on Friday and it actually was my POI accepting me, and she did leave a message. I would assume that if they don't leave a message, they'd e-mail you or try to call again. I can't imagine one missed call with no message was an acceptance, unfortunately.
