Masters after another Masters in the same field

Question

Posted

Hi folks!

I'm thinking of applying to MA in International Policy at Stanford. I have high GPA and test scores and everything else is good so far, BUT the trick is I am an international student and I already have my master degree in International relations from a university in my country.

Do you think this might be a problem? In general, does it ever happen that a program accepts a student who already has a degree in the same field that they apply to?

If it's from another country, it's less of a problem. There's a perception that people in e.g. Europe do master's as an extension of undergrad  - plus, a lot of people repeat master's they already have in the US because the system is different.
