SallyK Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Hi, I am applying for a PhD in English departments across universities in the UK. I have started contacting prospective supervisors and one of them recently asked me for a more detailed version of my proposal. Once I mailed it to her, she asked me for a chapter-wise division, a working bibliography and a working plan as to how would cover all areas within the designated time period. After she reviews this information, she will also conduct an informal interview. Is this normal for universities in the UK? Or does it depend on individual supervisors? I ask because I went through the sample PhD proposals provided on the websites of certain UK universities and I am pretty sure my proposal is more detailed than those ones. Thanks!
