MemoTheGreat Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Anyone waiting for the decisions? I am desperately waiting, but there has been no news yet! I think Cornell ME graduate office is sooooo lazy, they do not have an application status webpage, plus they didn't reply to any of my emails!!

I contacted them last week and they just send me an e-mail that not all decisions had been made yet and results should be out by the end of march. We'll see how it goes. What is your concentration in mechanical?

What is your concentration in mechanical? My research interests are robotics and control theory. I have been recently admitted to UIUC ME department with a RA in vibrations lab, but I am not sure if I will take this offer. What about you?
gagga5 Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Anyone waiting for the decisions? I am desperately waiting, but there has been no news yet! I think Cornell ME graduate office is sooooo lazy, they do not have an application status webpage, plus they didn't reply to any of my emails!! I'm still waiting too. The admission's office staff once told me that my application was complete and under review...but that was in January. I have not heard anything yet.. I got an offer from Georgia Tech and Purdue. Concentration area is combustion. I saw some people put their admission results on this website, saying that they only got M.Eng degree instead of PhD (which is worthless).
Florida Sunshine Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Hey guys, I corresponded with the director for graduate studies today, and unfortunately found out that I've been rejected. There were over 600 candidates for 20 to 25 positions, and I considered Cornell a little bit of a reach, so I don't feel too bad. I don't think we can really call them "lazy" when they're working through that many candidates, and I always found that my emails were responded to promptly. Maybe it's how you said it... The director for graduate studies said that she plans on getting the emails out by the end of the week. Keep checking your email, and good luck!

Florida Sunshine, if you think there was a problem with the way I wrote my emails, I can always forward them to you and you can "then" decide if there is a problem with them.

I was merely pointing out that, contrary to your original post, I have never had a problem getting a prompt response from the graduate coordinator. No need to get snarky. I was trying to help you out. Regardless, I wish you and the others the best of luck. There's a lot of tough competition out there!

Sorry if I sounded too aggressive Cornell is my dream school (plus my girlfriend will probably be studying there next year also) so I really want to go there, although already been admitted by UIUC. Let's see. Good luck with your other applications. Cheers

fitze Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Does anyone have any questions about the ME professors? I'm an ME undergrad at Cornell. Robotics sounds like Professors Lipson, Hadas or Peck.
