Sheba Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Hey guys, I have applied to Baruch, NYU Wagner and Northeastern Uni for an MPA (FALL 2019). Previously, I did apply to NYU for an MA in Global Affairs - specializing in International Law (which I got accepted) and St. John's Uni for an MA in Sociology (also accepted). However, I decided to reject both and reapply for an MPA for various reasons. I run an intl humanitarian org (started in 2016) and already manage 1.5 million budget and large team, won a couple of awards from local US officials and intl orgs, I worked in higher ed, and also law office as paralegal. I also spoke at UN sessions in NY and Switzerland on conflicts. Sat along with US officials on panels, etc. My BA was in Sociology, but with so much going on at the time, my GPA was overall a 3.2 but my major GPA was a 3.7. My recommendation letters are from top executives at a college, college adviser and also a colleague who is currently an editor for a program at Harvard. My last minute change did not allow me to take the GRE and I know that for Northeastern Uni they don't ask for it and Baruch, you can opt out with a 3.0+ but NYU WAgner was strongly recommended + a video essay which was done professionally (i submitted). What are the odds of getting in? Once the MPA is done, I am studying for the GRE so I can enter a PhD program in International Relations or Public Policy. Also the price tag for NYU Wagner is huge. IS it worth it if an applicant already has good connections to think-tanks, orgs, UN, etc? I am eventually planning to apply to PhD programs at NYU, Princeton, Columbia, Northwestern, etc.
