Type of Student: International Senior Undergraduate

Undergrad School: The best university in my country, but was established only 6 years ago and fairly unknown I guess. Still we have math major graduates in Stanford, Oxford, UIUC, MIT, BU, Georgia Tech, NUS etc.

Undergrad Major: Mathematics, minor: Economics

Undergrad GPA: 3.42 (3.8 in math classes). For what it is worth, as a freshman I was an Engineering student and GPA was 2.7. Since my transfer to math dep. it is 3.7 on average.

GRE: Q = 169 (96th percentile), V = 161 (88rd percentile), AW = 3.5 (40th percentile)

TOEFL: 105 (Speaking 27)

Math Subject GRE: None

Relevant Undergrad Courses & Grades:  Real Analysis (A), LA (A), Probability (A), Mathematical Statistics (B+), Regression Analysis (B+), Stochastic Processes (A), Stochastic Calculus (A), Numerical Methods (A), Design of Experiments (A-), Nonlinear DE (A-), Nonlinear Optimization (A)

Research Experience: 5 months I worked on NLP, but did not publish. Now I am working on my senior thesis (Finite Elements) and another paper on Finite Elements that should be published soon.

Recommendation Letters: 2 strong letters from professors that know me well and can speak to my mathematical background and research potential.  One that might not be perfect since he doesn't know me as well (but I've had 3 A grades with him and spoken to him on occasion)

Graduate Classes: I am taking 2 grad classes this semester, one in Numerical Methods and another in Statistics. In both classes I am doing very well.

Applying to: PhD Statistics (unless otherwise specified)

UCLA (Ms)

U of Toronto (Ms)

University of Michigan

I would highly appreciate any thoughts/advice on my list and whether I stand chances to get into one of my programs. Thanks :)
