I am finishing up some applications this week and my anxiety really set in tonight. I am applying for MSW program and my top choice is University of Texas - Austin (called MSSW there). I looked at admission statistics from the past few years and it looked like a 55-60% acceptance rate. I’m nervous of my chances. Here’s some more info about me:

- Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Penn State, had a 3.41 GPA with a minor in Child Maltreatment & Advocacy Studies

- I graduated from Penn State last month (only took me 3.5 years)

- I was a crisis hotline counselor. Trained 180 hours for that and my hotline was partnered with the National Suicide Prevention Lifetime

- I am a research assistant in 2 research labs focusing on child maltreatment. In one lab, I am the lead of a pilot study and had direct clinical interactions with participants. I worked for a very well known researcher in this field

- I had a 100 hour internship as a Family Preservation & Indepedent Living Counselor

 - I have lots of leadership experiences and services trips I went on... but I don’t think that’s as important

UT-Austin wants 5 letters of rec (3 minimum, 5 preferred). I only have 3 right now (hoping for 4 - not sure yet if it’ll work). I felt like my GPA was good enough to not take the GRE (wasn’t required unless I had a lower than 3.0) but after looking at the admission statistics, it looked like the average was 3.6  and I’m worried now that I should have taken that

i felt confident for a while with all the experiences I’ve had and able to talk about characteristics and goals. I have 3 strong letters of recommendation and good personal statement. But will I have lower chances with only 3 letters and no GRE? I’m still so nervous! What are my chances?!
