I'm considering going back to school (I have a PhD in social sciences already) for a career change. Currently debating MHC or training to become a psychoanalyst licensed therapist. From what I know, the second path would provide a deeper but also narrower education. Since I don't have a degree in psychology I'm afraid my foundations wouldn't be solid. In the future (my goal is to go into private practice over time) insurances wouldn't cover. Am I correct?
I'm from Europe and the school ranking system here is not intuitive to me. Beside Columbia and NYU, which are prohibitive for me, I'm considering Baruch, Long Island Univesity in Westchester and Rockland County, Pace in Westchester (recently cacrep accredited), Cuny Hunter. Does anybody is familiar and willing to comment on the quality of the programs? Especially for LIU and Pace is hard to find good information. I'm looking for a small, focused program that provides great education (ideal populations/area that I'd like to work with are children, eating disorders, grief and trauma).

Hi everyone,
