langjs Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 Hi, I am a Canadian and I would like to apply to grad school in Canada Universities (UBC, UT, etc). I am eager to go for a Master degree, but I am so worried that I could not compete with the top students from all over the world for grad school and ended up with no school to goto. I have heard that the public universities need to accept a percentage of local students because of funding reasons (since all research based Master degrees get fully funded by university). I am just wondering (specifically for a fully funded Research based Master Degree) 1. if the university considers international students same as local students, by only compare the grades, LoR and etc regardless of the nationalities (residency status). 2. assume top 20% of all applicants are international students, no local students will get admission? (acceptance rate around 10%) Thanks in advance. I really want to know how university deal with this question.
