NYU experience

Does anyone have any experience with expectations or level of difficulty of the online or on-campus speech pathology program at NYU? I read a comment here on gradcafe that NYU accepts students in volumes and then drastically weeds out students, which has made me a bit nervous. I know that NYU works a bit differently from many others universities as you have to take foundation courses first (if you don't have all the prerequisites) so I am wondering if this is used to screen out the best students who will then proceed to the main program, or maybe this comment was referring to the entire program? 

Any comments about your experience with NYU (positive or negative) would be great.
