RearWindow Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Hi. I am a Canadian in my fourth year Honours, and I am not sure if I should go to McGill or uWaterloo for a Master's in Political Science. McGill is my dream school, but from a practical standpoint uWaterloo offers an eight-month co-op for the Master's, whereas McGill's is a twelve week intensive internship. I have little professional experience. I will be doing an academic internship with my Environmental Studies Minor this winter, which is a part-time three month undergrad internship. That is pretty much all the work experience I will have accumulated thus far. The thing is, McGill is considered the best University in Canada, and I wonder if having the name on my resume/CV will add weight to it, even if I will only have done two academic internships. Will it still be very difficult to find a good job, even if I went to McGill? Honestly, I am eager to live in Montreal, and I do like academia and research. I am not sure if two part time academic internships will help, whereas an 8 month co-op might be better, even if uWaterloo doesn't have the greatest Political Science program. I am so unsure of what to do, especially from a career perspective. Could use some advice and feedback. Thanks in advance!
