I am applying to PhD Sociology programs and while I have a few selected, I was wondering anyone had any suggestions of programs that might fit my research interests, specifically within the sub-field of political sociology, economic sociology, and organizational theory.
My background has involved the studying of legal, social, and business conditions that allow for the successful implementation of cooperative behavior in the form of business cooperatives, sustainable commons, and collective resource management. Models have been implemented in certain situations with tremendous success, producing sustainable development, market viability, and community reinvestment, although these models also fail spectacularly under different conditions. Often times failure of these models is attributed to the loss of social trust, transitory populations, heterogenous participants etc.
Does anyone know of any good programs looking into social trust, effective commons management, or rural development research, cooperatives, urban commons, or this general research area?
