chickensandwich Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Hello, I am currently an international student considering applying in the upcoming cycle. I was wondering what my chances are of getting accepted into some basic science programs, such as immunology, biomedical sciences, etc. I am Canadian and completed my BSc in Canada as well. I finished with an GPA of about 3.8-3.9 (the conversion varies depending on which schools use an A or A+ as their top grade since my university uses A+), although it is important to note that I had a poor first year relative to my later years (started with a 3.4 in first year and have increased since then). I have a decent amount of research experience (been in labs since after 1st year) and have done a couple of presentations and have some pending publications (all fairly low impact though and I am mainly 3rd or lower author on them). I was hoping to go to a program that is likely to offer full funding for international students as I do not come from a family with a lot of money and am not trying to end up with significant debt. Ideally I would like to go to a top 20 school but I understand it is very competitive, and can be especially so for international applicants. If anyone can offer some insight, I wold greatly appreciate it!
